Rule of 3 (odd numbers)
There is an artists rule that says that things look more balanced if broken into thirds. Layouts that are spaced in thirds are more pleasing to the eye. This is also true with the numbers of items used repeatedly. The rule extends to odd numbers in general. A basket of fruit looks better if it has 3 pieces, or 5 pieces, or 7 pieces. It doesn't mean you have to do it this way, but if you feel something is a little off in your layout, see if you can work with odd numbers to make it feel more balanced.
