Halloween Boo Bag!

This is SO easy. Take an 8.5 x 11 sheet of cardstock. Score the full length at 2.5" and again at 6". Then score the full width at 4.5 and 6.5. No cutting at all! Simply fold in the corners on the angle fold it up. Voila! No gluing necessary. The ribbon band holds it even when it is full of treats. Owl stamp is by Papertrey and all the other stamps are SU. Sentiment is TAC.

So Proud of This Card

If I do say so myself, I am really happy with how this one turned out! The background is Cuttlebugged on white core Bazille and then sanded. The leaves are painted with Shimmerz and apple bucket is done with Copics. The colors just make me happy! Unfortunately the Shimmerz are hard to see, but if you click on the picture to enlarge and look at the apples you will see the sparkle.

Masculine Card

Stamps by SU.

Watercolor Crayons (not SU)

Readers have asked which watercolor crayons I prefer. I use these Caran d' Arche crayons. I found them on ebay and have been told by a couple of artists that they are the finest grade watercolor crayons out there. I chose them because one box had all the colors I needed. Because they blend beautifully, you really don't need a whole array of colors. When I was in France, we saw this brand of art supply everywhere we went.

Pumpkin Harvest

All stamps by SU. These images were colored with watercolor crayons.

Come as You Aren't! (transparency card)

I stamped Cornish Heritage cheesecloth background on a clear transparency. I then added my image colored with Copics and attached with glue dots. Ribbon and image sources unknown.

Thanks to Jacki at GW I will no longer be using these thinner transparencies. She sent me a sample of the Hero Arts ones and they are much sturdier.

The Resulting Card

This card was made using the stencil shown in the previous post. The picture on the previous post shows more accurately how crisp the resulting dry embossing is. I could not get quite a good enough angle on this photo.

The image is SU Measure of a Life painted with Shimmerz.

How to Make Cuttlebug Stencils (not folders)

I have been messing around with this idea for awhile and finally figured out how to do this during the night while I could not sleep.

I cut 2 layers of cardstock in my Cricut using the Home Accents cartridge. I saved both cut outs and carefully glued them together. When dry they will emboss. It is wonderful because you can place this anywhere on your cardstock that you want the image.

The sandwich I used for this, from bottom up, is Plate A, one piece of thin chipboard, Plate B, gold mat, cardstock, image (face down), B plate. It makes a very crisp emboss.

A Thank You to a Stamp Company

I inquired about purchasing a single stamp from the Unity Stamp company for use with my students. It was part of a set but I was hoping against hope that they might be willing to sell me a single irregular or something since I just needed the one.

I just got the most delightful email saying they would just send me one as their good deed for the day!!

Check them out by clicking the title of this post and it will take you right to their site.

Thank you, Unity Stamps!

Float (and the story behind it)

When we were going through a really bad time after my husband's diagnosis of Parkinson's, I had a dream where we were in quicksand and struggling. The anxiety in the dream was horrible and then I heard a voice say "float" over and over. When I relaxed and laid back the anxiety went away and I could feel the sun on my face and the result was a deep peace.

I have a friend who has been through a horrible ordeal and told her the story and she has been using the "just float" analogy. I bought this little CC design monkey image to make her some cards.

Exciting News!

I am part of Lime Light Scrappers! I will be considered a consulting team member since I could not commit to everything due to time constraints. It is an amazing team and the ideas are just so exciting.

We are a design team with a unique purpose. We use our crafting skills to help and bring light to others. We invite you to visit the site often to find out whom we are crafting for and what we are planning in the months to come. We have exciting plans that include making cards and bookmarks for our men and women in uniform, making journals for families whose children are in the hospital, making cards for baskets that help raise money for playground equipment....and that's just the beginning.
